Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Drought in the North-Eastern Coastal Region of Vietnam Using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI)

Spatio-temporal analysis of drought provides valuable information for management and damage mitigation. In this study, the Standardized Precipitation Index at time scale 6 months (SPI-6) is selected to reflect conditions in North-Eastern coastal region Vietnam. The events their characteristics from 1981 2019 are detected 9 meteorological stations 10 Chirps rainfall stations. spatio-temporal variation study analyzed on basis number, duration, severity, intensity, peak 19 results show that mainly occurred with 1-season duration moderate intensity peak. were greatest period 2001-2010 smallest 2011-2019. Among stations, tends decrease 11 increase 7 has a slight variant 1 station; severity 14 4 not significant trend 17 station, 18 station.
